Event Details

This policy series will focus on topics around bias-motivated incidents, anti-hate crime policies, community programs, and local government outreach. We will have one nationally recognized expert each month present and take questions from the community.
Our first speaker is Becky Monroe, a Professor at Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and Director of the Stop Hate Project at the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. In 2019, Becky was named Director of the Divided Community Project, a multi-pronged initiative to help communities address issues leading to polarization and to foster collaborative approaches for transforming community division into positive action.  Previously, under the Obama administration, Ms. Monroe served as Counsel and Interim Director of the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Community Relations Service, with the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, and as a Senior Policy Advisor to the White House Domestic Policy Council.
