Advisory Council

Began March 2018

The City of Chattanooga Office of Workforce Development’s work is guided by the leadership of the City Mayor, Economic Development administration, and the WFD Advisory Board. The WFD Advisory Board membership, approximately 8-10 members, represents a cross section of all major local economic sectors (i.e., healthcare, hospitality, IT/Technology, manufacturing, logistics, and skills/trades/construction). Additionally, the WFD Advisory Board is represented by local service providers, college/university representatives, and not-profit organization(s).

If you are interested in becoming a WFD Advisory Board member, please click “Get Involved” and let us know.

Note: WFD Advisory Board meetings have been temporarily suspended due to virus health concerns.

Employer Roundtable

The Office of WFD’s Employer Roundtable is a way to bring stakeholder holders together from all economic and service provider sectors to conduct WFD asset mapping, WFD and talent acquisition strategic plan, and share information regarding legislative and other matters impacting local WFD and talent acquisition efforts. The objective of the Employer Roundtable is to bring employers together, not to rehash their needs, but rather to inform them of the progress of the Workforce Advisor Council and to enlist their support on a number of issues. We need the partnership of employers in order to enhance: Apprenticeships, internships, work-based learning, job shadowing, and mentoring at more businesses; participation in brainstorming ways we can solve transportation issues and other barriers to employment.

The Employer Roundtable Summit will meet annually once launched. At each meeting, someone from WFD and a member(s) of the WFD Advisory Council will present on the work that the WFAC has been doing. These meetings will be held in a “conference” format (i.e., opening general session, breakout sessions by economic sector, lunch, and a report out general session to close the meeting.

Note: WFD Employer Roundtable Summit date to be announced.
