E. Martin Luther King Blvd. Improvements
The Chattanooga Department of Transportation will be implementing a road safety and improvement project on E. Martin Luther King Blvd. to improve roadway conditions, calm traffic, increase safety for all users, and create a welcoming place along the heart of vibrant neighborhoods and commercial districts.
Building on improvements to E. Martin Luther King Blvd. at Miller Park, this project will:
- Repave E. Martin Luther King Blvd. from Georgia Ave. to Central Ave.
- Repair the roadway beneath the surface
- Transition the roadway configuration from four lanes to three lanes (one travel lane in each direction and one center turn lane) with bike lanes. On-street parking will remain.
This project will be continued along Bailey Ave. as it is repaved later in 2018.
For information about the safety improvements, benefits of the roadway configuration change, and feedback we have received about the project, please see the More Information section below.
